I'm a Coach

After a little hiatus, I’m ramping up my coaching business.

One person at a time, I can make a difference in people’s lives.

Dipping my feet back into the water last week,  I was reminded of the power of a coaching conversation.

Two humans…

My client:

Sharing what’s been going on, what’s true for her,

we peel back the layers beneath the surface stories.

There is always more to see.

Going deeper, new insights bubbled up.

Just like that, a leap in consciousness.

Me:

Deep listening, asking questions, reflecting, sharing metaphors,

pointing my client to her innate inner wisdom.

Wisdom, an overlooked superpower,

an ingredient leading to clarity and potentially, feelings of calm.

Sharing the magic of a new understanding.

As a coach, I help people get more out of themselves than they can get on their own. I point them to a deeper understanding of their human experience.  That’s it, that’s my purpose.

Some of my favorite people to work with are in transition or at a fork in the road. They may be feeling stuck, lost or confused.  Many are wanting to create something new in their life and they are wondering what and/or how.

I have a special place in my heart (and coaching practice) for parents of children with autism or special needs. Many are feeling overwhelmed, stressed or strained by caring for their child or children. As a veteran autism mom and sibling, I’m in a unique position to serve other parents.

Within a conversation, people begin to see and hear their own answers, new solutions, and possibilities. They begin to glimpse the true source of their experiences.  With deeper understanding, the difficult may suddenly appear simple or obvious. Blinders can dissolve. Fresh perspectives often appear.

The coaching conversation can be a catalyst for insights to bubble forth. Sometimes during, sometimes later.

An insight is a brand new fresh thought. It has an exciting feeling of “aha!” and has the power to change everything. It may be quiet and subtle or appear with a bang.

For parents, an insight can alter the lens through which they see their child, thereby changing their experience.

Last week I was reminded that I love what I do. AND I want to do more of it.
